JOB DESCRIPTION

SUMMARY

Experience providing technical leadership to a team of 5 – 10 engineering professionals for the development of embedded software products for aircraft and naval systems. Ability to motivate the development team and excellent communication skills are critical in providing guidance for the design, development, verification, and validation of the system in accordance with customer requirements and regulatory guidelines.

EDUCATION

University education from an accredited institute with a minimum bachelor’s degree in computer science or related engineering discipline.

EXPERIENCE 

10+ years developing and certifying aircraft and/or naval systems.

The candidate will be expected to design, develop, and maintain system in accordance with customer requirements and regulatory guidelines. He/she will ensure the use of appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle for products such as engine/airplane flight control and display systems, avionics, mechanical and electrical systems, commercial and military aircraft and naval systems. Interfacing with customers, suppliers, application users, and other technical and support personnel will also be required.

Experience in the following areas is required:

• Project management
• Engine, aircraft, and/or vessel certification including extensive working knowledge of:
  • CFR Title 14 Parts 23/25/27/29/33
  • CFR Title 46 Part 2
  • RTCA/DO-178B
  • RTCA/DO-254
  • ABS High Speed Naval Craft Guide
  • ABS Naval Vessel Rules
• Aircraft flight management systems
• Gas turbine engine control systems
• C/C++, Ada, and assembly programming

Familiarity with the following applications is a definite asset:

• Motorola PowerPC Microcontrollers (including MPC555/745)
• Agilent logic analyzers
• ARINC-429, RS-422, & CAN serial data links
• GreenHills Integrated Development Environment & AdaMulti 2000
• MATLAB / Simulink, SCADE, BEACON, DOORS©
• Microsoft OFFICE
  

TRAVEL

Occasional travel required to customer sites (usually within North America).

OTHER

• Ability to motivate individuals
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Overtime will be requested during peak periods
• Fluency in English and French (spoken & written) is an asset
