JOB DESCRIPTION

SUMMARY

Computer Technician (Primary Role)

Under the supervision of the IT Administrator, the candidate will:

• Provide desktop maintenance
• Install new software and create new user accounts
• Verify status of anti-virus, license and PC updates
• Provide support to the users
• Provide server maintenance
• Schedule and install updates
• Verify status of license and backup operation
• Perform monthly system files backup
• Assist in the investigation of server issues
  (Server 2003-2008 and Exchange)
• Assist in special IT projects
• Purchase of new hardware and software
• Maintain company procedures related to IT infrastructure

Engineering Technician (Secondary Role)

The candidate will participate in the development and verification of engineering systems and software projects.

• Test Procedures
• Assist in the creation and execution of verification and validation test procedures/scripts
• Test Environment
• Responsible for instruments calibration
• Investigate test bench problems
• Perform bench modifications

• Configuration Management
• Under the supervision of the Configuration Management director, perform configuration management tasks for the company’s electronic data

EDUCATION

DEC in computer science.

EXPERIENCE

3-7 years experience in a similar position

QUALIFICATIONS 

Sound knowledge in the following areas is required:

• Windows XP and Windows Server 2003-2008
• Microsoft Office Suites
• Networks and equipment (wiring, maintenance and repair of computers and printers, troubleshooting software and hardware issues)

Knowledge of the following applications is a definite asset:

• Programming languages: C,C++, Java
• Sun Solaris
• VMWare
• Microsoft Exchange 2008

OTHER

• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Fluency in English and French (spoken & written)
• Overtime may be requested during peak periods
